Move Home for less

160x110_exact-xd0u9729.jpegThe Leeds area has seen the average house price rise by 21% over the past 3 years, so professional removals firms are now seen as one expense too many.

Greyhound Box & Packaging has launched a service for a growing number of house owners and tenants opting for DIY removals.

Ian Jenner, Managing Director of Greyhound Box & Packaging explains, "Supply of boxes and packaging to domestic customers has risen significantly in the last few months. We are pleased to be able to support customers whatever size their order may be, as there is so much pressure on people's finances when moving house, it's nice to be able to offer a cost effective solution for them".

The company's "Moving Pack" is one of the most popular online sellers, with a cost of just £29.95 to box up 1-bed apartment, and £55.95 for enough boxes to pack up a 4-bed detached house  - a vast saving on a removal professional's fees.

Greyhound offers a range of five home-moving packages (boxes and packing tape) as well as bubble wrap, via this website.

"We put the high demand for our boxes and packaging down to the rise in interest rates and local house prices," adds Ian. "It's far cheaper to pack up your own belongings and drive your own van, but we also want to ensure that people deal with this properly; if done right, it needn't be stressful, which is where the online tips come in."

Hopefully, this means there is no re-enacting of those 1970's PG Tips ads, featuring chimpanzees as accident-prone removals men.

"None of our customers has mentioned dropping a piano down the stairs, or putting a curtain pole through the window," Ian Jenner reassures. Good news for Rachel Tuttle pictured here with Ian. A Greyhound customer, Rachel opted for a DIY move and got the surprise of her life when Greyhound's MD turned up with her boxes to help her move!
